Almost 200 alumni were welcomed back to campus to re-live thier University glory days during the second annual Loughborough Alumni Challenge Weekend.  Alumni sportsmen and women dusted off their kit, limbered up and returned to their old turf in a bid to defeat Loughborough's current stars.

The weekend kicked off on Friday evening with a drinks reception in JC's and a nostalgic night at Alumni FND. Then, on Saturday morning battle commenced: Alumni Vs Students across a range of sports. Competition was fierce and each player gave their all to secure victory for their team.

Faraday entered two alumni teams which eventually faced one another in the final – alumni victory was guaranteed.

The final score

At the end of the long gruelling day, alumni and students flocked to Fusion to enjoy a well-earned hog roast – and learn the final scores and players of the match.

Alumni IMS Challenge:Winner – Faraday Alumni
Faraday Alumni Team Two victoriously collected the award, having defeated their old team-mates 5-2 in the final.

Alumni vs Students Challenge: Winner – The Students
The overall champion and winner of the Challenge Cup for the second year running were the students with seven victories to four. David Goss, former SU President, presented the Challenge Cup on behalf of the alumni to Ewan Paterson, AU President 2010-11, who accepted the trophy on behalf of the triumphant students. After the presentation, the guests enjoyed an exclusive Hey Ewe.

We are delighted to announce that the Alumni Association will be able to donate over £1000 to the sports clubs as thanks for their hard work and effort in helping to co-ordinate such an enjoyable and successful weekend.
