May 2nd - 5th 2008 
This year’s May Bank Holiday saw a special Alumni Weekend that was jam-packed with events organised by Loughborough Students Union. This event is becoming a regular on the University calendar and is always guaranteed good fun. If you were unable to attend this year – we hope you can make it next year! The weekend kicked off with a special Alumni FND, with a good turnout of Alumni, who were grabbing the chance to pay Student prices for drinks once more! As always with FND, the night was enjoyed by all in attendance. 
Saturday started with a Beer Festival organised by LSU Rag which ran for the first three days of the weekend. With around thirty different beers, ales and ciders to try, there was just about enough to go round! In the evening guests were treated to a special Beer Keller evening complete with Oompah Band which everybody seemed to enjoy. But if Bavarian wasn’t your thing, there was a Latin Night organised by the Postgraduate and International Students Associations, with live Salsa music and the chance to learn a few moves! Sunday carried on where Saturday left off, with more chances to sample at the Beer Festival, followed in the evening by a Lufbra in Lufbra drinks reception in the EHB and wrapping up with the Sunday Night Comedy Club which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. 
Finally, Bank Holiday Monday saw the turn of the Annual FREEFEST. With glorious sunshine and a wide range of music for all tastes, it was a great success. The Alumni Association was present with a stand in the Union building, displaying historical photographs, articles and other memorabilia. There was also the opportunity to discuss the many benefits of keeping in touch and actively involved with Loughborough beyond graduation, which attracted a lot of interest. All in all the event was a great success. The Alumni Weekend seems to get better each year, with great opportunities for old friends to meet up, amazing events and fantastic music.
