Physical Education 25th Anniversary Reunion

In June 30 alumni from the class of 1987 made the occasion, out of a year group of around 100, with two individuals coming from as far afield as the United States and Canada specifically for the event. It was also very much appreciated that so many others, whilst unable to attend, sent their apologies and best wishes for the evening.
It is fair to say that the dinner was a great success and that a fun and memorable evening was had by all. Over many hours (and drinks), numerous memories, stories, as well as some rather embarrassing 80s photos were shared, and it was fascinating to hear what everybody was now doing and about their successes and the different paths they had taken.
A special mention and thank you must go to Steve Roper (Physical Education & Sports Science, 1987) who initiated the whole event and who spent a considerable amount of time re-establishing contact with as many of the year group as possible. A big thank you should also be extended to two former lecturers, Rod Thorpe (Physical Education, 1964) and Rex Hazeldine (Physical Education, 1962), who were able to make the evening and whose attendance was really welcomed.
Afterwards, there was certainly a good deal of enthusiasm for holding another reunion – and agreement not to leave it another 25 years!
